Southern California Unit
The Unit is a semi-autonomous affiliate of the national UUSC based
in
Southern
California and representing social activists from
Unitarian
Universalist congregations and other concerned religious liberals.
The
members take positions on social justice issues that are consistent
with
the principles of the UUSC and the Unitarian Universalist
Association,
but not necessarily endorsed by every Unitarian Universalist. This
provides
the individual members of congregations the opportunity to act in
the
name
of the Unit on important issues which may not be accepted with
unanimity
by the entire church or society.
The Unit sponsors a Human Rights Forum in the spring and a Latin
America
Encuentro in the fall, with knowledgable speakers and action
workshops.
Speakers are available to come to your congregation and talk on
these
and other issues of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee.
